Who is Charles Phillips?
Charles Phillips was once the president of a prestigious IT company, but he resigned after realizing that he has new fields to conquer. After more than a month of being unemployed, he was hired as the chief executive officer of another software designer. It was evident that he is very good in his craft to get hired in such a short period of time. From one high-ranking position to another, it seemed like Charles Phillips slept as the president then woke up as a CEO of a multinational company.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy. Charles Phillips received his Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Hampton University in Virginia and his Juris Doctorate from the New York Law School.
Charles Phillips worked at various investment banking firms in Wall Street from 1986 to 1994. Prior to his stint in Wall Street, he was an Information Technology Officer in the United Marine Corps where he had the rank of Captain. From 1994 to 2003, he joined Morgan Stanley as principal then became its managing director. For eight straight years, 1994-2002, he was hailed as the top Enterprise Software Industry Analyst by the Institutional Investor magazine.
In 2003, he was hired by Larry Ellison to serve as Executive Vice President for Strategy, Partnerships, and Business Development of Oracle, one of software industry’s top companies. After a year, he was then hired as president of the said company. In seven years of working for Oracle, Phillips helped in acquiring more than 50 companies for over $40 billion. Their very first acquisition was PeopleSoft, which they obtained after only a week in office. Furthermore, during his term, Oracle’s revenue amounted to $26.8 billion or an increase of nearly 300 percent from the time he took over. They also managed to strike 60 deals during that period.
For a person that has gained so much popularity and credibility through the years for his work in banking and software industries, success will definitely come in continuous bursts. Despite some miscues in his previous work, the good reputation Phillips acquired through the years trumped some negativity in him. With his experience and a great educational background, people in the industry would always expect him to do remarkable feats.
